Hawaii Electric Light Co. announces a scheduled power outage from 10 p.m. Nov. 3 to 5 a.m. Nov. 4 in North Kohala.
This temporary outage will allow Hawaii Electric Light personnel to safely perform maintenance and upgrade equipment to improve system reliability. Customers in Hawi, Kapaau, Halaula and along Kohala Mountain Road between mile marker 6 and mile marker 9 will be affected.
Customers should unplug sensitive equipment before the outage and to keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed. Customers who depend on medication or life support equipment should make arrangements for a back-up power supply or transportation to a facility outside the affected area.
