KAILUA-KONA — Macdon Donny Thromman, 39, Kaapau, had the bond in his case where he allegedly shot two people, including a police officer, lowered.

Thromman was in a standoff with police on July 14, 2015, and has been in custody since that time.

His bond was set at $390,200 on Aug. 20, 2015, where it was maintained until Feb. 5. Then 3rd Circuit Court Chief Judge Ronald Ibarra reduced it to $300,000.

The prosecution’s decision to effectively recharge Thromman on several counts created a second case, which raised the total bonds to $450,000.

The defense raised the point that a recent state supreme court held that $100,000 bond was too high for a first-degree murder case, and Ibarra opted to set the bond at $200,000.

“I’ve doubled the supreme court,” Ibarra said.
