The 17th annual George Heneghan Fun Run and Color Stampede drew a record turnout on Sunday when more than 200 people showed up to get splashed in color at Parker School.

“We had a total of 207 runners in our 1K and 5K races, which makes this our biggest and best year yet,” said Nicole Vedelli, Parker School athletic director.

Thirty kids ages 11 and under competed in a 1K race at the school’s lower campus, followed by a 5K race with more than 170 participants ages 12 and older. Runners and walkers were splashed in powdered color at four different color stations throughout the race.

Established in 1999, the Fun Run and color Stampede is in memory of Hawaii architect George Heneghan, an accomplished athlete, Parker teacher and coach of cross country and track from 1992 to 1998.

All proceeds support Parker School’s athletics program.
