Help Auntie’s Angels serve seniors, children at holiday luau

Auntie’s Angels – Big Island will hold its fourth annual Holiday Luau Luncheon Dec. 5.

The nonprofit recently started a new community outreach program with Hookena Elementary School, providing a monthly brown bag food program, along with incentive programs for attendance and reading. With the addition of the students and teachers, plus the seniors, a larger, combined Holiday Luau Luncheon is planned. Partnering with Calvary Community Church, the event will be held at their location off Lako Street.

Gifts and gift cards for keiki and kupuna are needed, along with various supply items, and help with the dessert table.

To donate or for more information, call Auntie Jan at 329-7897.

Wreath making Jeep trip planned

The Kona Historical Society will host its annual holiday wreath making Jeep trip fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

The group will meet in Captain Cook and travel mauka, picking fresh ohia and other natural materials. All other wreath making materials will be provided along with a stew lunch and hot drinks. These wreaths are easy to make and will remain beautiful for many months.

Reservations are required and attendees must be current Kona Historical Society members. Call Kona Historical Society to join. Visit reservations at store.konahistorical.org. Cost is $110. Funds support educational programs and preservation projects.

A four-wheel drive vehicle is required but those without one may call the society to possibly find room in another attendee’s vehicle.
