As of about 2:45 p.m., Hawaiian Telcom technicians restored phone, internet and wireless service to the Hawaii Island customers who were impacted by the fiber break that was identified this morning. The cause of the fiber break was impact from a tree located in a remote area off Mamalahoa Highway.

The interruption happened around 11 a.m. today. Hawaiian Telcom experienced disruptions affecting customers in Kailua-Kona including Naalehu, Pahala and Hawaiian Ocean View Estates. Disruptions range from limited calling ability to loss of service.
