Announcement: This Friday, Tutu’s House and other businesses in the same complex will be difficult to access because of the 3rd Annual three-day Barbell Rodeo event sponsored at the CrossFit Waimea Gym. It is with consideration for our attendees regarding accessibility, safety and convenience that Tutu’s House has cancelled all activities the weekend of Nov. 11-13. This specifically impacts the usual Friday programs: Chair Yoga, Overeaters Anonymous and Scrabble Meet-Up.

Yoga Basics with Janet Lam is every Monday from 8—9 a.m. Start your week with a smile, feeling balanced, flexible and strong. The class includes fundamental yoga poses students generally learned within their first year of practice. Although not specifically a beginner’s class, the movement sequence can easily accommodate students new to yoga or returning to a yoga practice.

Tutu’s House Writers’ Support Group meets every Tuesday from 10 a.m.—noon. Interested persons are invited to join new writers to published authors from many genres: fiction, non-fiction, essays and poetry. Share something you are currently working on with this interesting group in an encouraging place to explore your writing voice.

Mama-Fit Club for Women meets on Wednesdays from 9—10 a.m. with Ranya, Kate, Ilene and Krish. A fun video workout is used for all levels of fitness, whether preparing for pregnancy or recovering post partum. Keiki play with each other during the workout. The class is open to all women, with or without children. Wear comfortable clothes and exercise shoes. Bring water, a towel, yoga mat and lightweights or resistance if possible.

There are craniosacral techniques that can reduce stress and its impact in the body. Using simple hand positions on the body can reduce pain, ease headaches, deepen sleep patterns, enhance the immune system and reduce the stress that leads to so many problems.

Joy in the Parenting Journey with Marci B. Schiller will be from 5:30—7 p.m. on Nov. 15 for parents of toddlers to tweens. Marci discovered Redirecting Children’s Behavior (RCB) before her son was born. She fell in love with the concept that parenting could be fun. It didn’t seem that way for most parents she had met, including her own. In this condensed overview of RCB, participants will learn to understand children’s basic emotional needs and four mistaken goals they pursue; role-play real life challenges; and learn five tools for preventing misbehavior. This will be followed by brief Q&A if time allows.
