Robert Sumiki

A survivor’s name was misspelled in the previously published obituary for Robert “Bobby” Shigemi Sumiki because of information provided to the newspaper.

Among others, he is survived by son, Greg (Waynette) Sumiki of Keaau.

James Akaka Sr.

James “Kimo” Kahikina Akaka Sr., 56, of Hilo died on Oct. 22, 2016, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired work leader at Pohakuloa Training Area, former tubaist with the Hawaii County Band, vice president of the Puna Canoe Club and an. Air Force veteran.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 19 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10:30 a.m. celebration of his life. Casual attire.

Survived by wife, Zena Akaka of Hilo; sons, Keoni (Molly) Akaka-Reis of Maryland, John (Darcy) Naki, James (Misty) Akaka Jr., Jonah Akaka, all of Hilo; brothers, Aaron (Karen) Akaka, Godfrey (Nancy) Akaka, all of Oahu, Joseph (Gail) Akaka of Hilo; sisters, Sheryl (Patrick) Akaka Chalfin, Susan Akaka Corichi, all of Seattle, Annie (John) Akaka Oury, Josephine (Howard) Akaka Kruse, all of Oahu; seven grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Wilma Kelii

Wilma Leilani Kelii, 74, of Hilo died Oct. 24, 2016, at her residence. Born July 21, 1942, in Hilo, she was a retired License Practical Nurse at Hilo Medical Center.

Visitation is planned from 3-4 p.m. Nov. 19 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel with a 4 p.m. celebration of life. Casual attire and flowers are welcomed.

She is survived by spouse, Ronald Kelii of Hilo; sons, Dane (Elena) Cairns, Ronald (Sonya Taosaka) Kelii and Conrad (Mapuna Nobriga) Kelii, all of Hilo; daughters, Dare (Byron) Omoto of Torrance, Calif., Lisa (Frank) Rios and DeAnna (Adrian) Medallia, all of Hilo; sisters, Gussie (LeeRoy) Correa of California and Kuulei Craddick of Hilo; brothers, George (Dorine) Hall of California and Palmer (Irma) Hall of Arizona; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lorraine Midel

Lorraine Pabilona Midel, 85, of Hayward, Calif., and formerly of Pepeekeo died Oct. 28, 2016 in Hayward, Calif. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a homemaker and a member of the West Hayward Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Friends may call 4 p.m. Nov. 19 at the West Hayward Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in California for a service.

She is survived by son, Russell (Kelly) Midel of Ainaloa; daughter, Sundee Amatiad of Hayward, Calif.; brother, Freddie (Bessie) Pabilona of Pepeekeo; five grandsons, four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Veronica Schiavoni

Veronica Crisincia Alcoran Schiavoni, 68, of Kapaau died Oct. 13, 2016, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in North Kohala, she was a retired Hele On bus driver, member of the Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the president of the Resident’s Council at Hilo Extended Care Facility.

Friends may call from 8-9:30 a.m. Nov. 19 at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass, followed by burial at the Hawi County Cemetery. The family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughters, Luanna Victorino, Robbie (Clyde Igarashi) Victorino, all of Kapaau, Bobbie-Jo (Kumai Obrey) Victorino of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Benny (Kay) Alcoran of Kaneohe, Oahu, Harold (Loretta) Alcoran, Clarence (Ivy) Alcoran, all of Kapaau, Scotty (Pam) Alcoran of Kailua-Kona; four grandchildren; one great granddaughter; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kawika Paul

Kawika Kekoa Paul, 33, of Hilo died Nov. 3, 2016. Born Dec. 20, 1982, in Arizona, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Isemoto Contracting.

He is survived by wife, Shawn Paul of Hilo; mother, Nani Paul of Hilo; father, Tony Paul of Hilo; sons, Kainalu Paul and Kaimana Paul of Hilo; sister Kacey (Curtis) Alcoran of Kailua-Kona.
