Hawaii Cycling Club hosts Out n Back Training Time Trial

The Hawaii Cycling Club’s 5th annual 19.5 mile Out n Back Training Time Trial will take place Sunday starting at 7 a.m. A non-competitive Sunday Ride will start shortly after the last time trial competitor.

Out n Back registration is from 6:30-6:45 a.m. on Pukiawe St. off of Ka’iminani Dr., 0.1 mile mauka from the Queen Ka’ahumanu Hwy.

The Out n Back starts at Ka’iminani Dr. and Queen Ka’ahumanu Hwy, travels North 13.5 miles to the 80 mile marker, makes a U-turn and returns to the 86 mile marker. Police will be directing traffic at the U-turn.

This event is free to Hawaii Cycling Club 2016/17 and 2016 annual members. Non-members will pay a $10 one day membership fee. The annual membership fee is $20.

Participants and volunteers will gather at The Talk Story aid station after the event for food and beverages.

Horseshoe club hosts ‘Thanksgiving Toss’ Tournament

The Kona Horseshoe Pitcher’s Club will hold its annual ‘Thanksgiving Toss’ on Nov. 19 at the Kona Palms Courts horseshoe pits behind the tennis courts at Old Kona Airport Park.

This is an open, non-sanctioned doubles tournament. 50 point game, all points count. Higher ringer percentage players will be designated as “A” players; “B” players will draw an “A” player from the hat to be his team partner. Players of all levels are welcome. Sign-in is at 8 a.m. and play starts at 9 a.m. The entry fee is $15. per player, with $5. of entry fee to be donated to the Food Bank. Free hot dogs will be served. Prizes include hams, turkeys, bags of rice and more. Sign-up at the Palms Courts from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursdays.

12th annual Wobble Gobble set for Thanksgiving morning

The 12th annual Walua Road Wobble Gobble fun run and walk, hosted by Big Island Running Company, will take place on Thanksgiving day (Nov. 24) at 8 a.m.

This event starts at the Walua Road trailhead on Lako Street, just mauka of the Chevron.

Participants may choose to run or walk a 1-mile, 3.5 mile or 6.4 mile course.

This is a free event, but it is suggested that all participants donate two cans of food for the Hawaii Food Bank. Volunteer help and post race refreshment donations are also welcome.

Beanie Heen Memorial Paddle Race

The Beanie Heen Memorial Paddle Race will take place on Saturday, Nov. 26 starting at Surf Park at Kawaihae. The 7.5 mile race will including divisions such as OC-1, OC-2, SUP, surf ski and more. Entry is $30. There will also be music, food and prizes.

Makalei Golf Club hosts 9 and Wine

Makalei Golf Club will host the next 9 and Wine golf outing on Saturday, Nov. 26. Registration will be at 1:30 p.m. with a Shotgun start at 2 p.m.

The outing will have a two person scramble format and cost $40 per person, which includes golf, cart, one beverage per person, pupu’s after play, fun prizes, contests and lots of comradely. All proceeds to benefit Diabetes Research.

Registration open for Waimea Athletics boys basketball

Waimea Athletics is currently accepting boys basketball registration from now until Dec. 8, for the following divisions: 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14. Fee is $25 per person and includes a uniform, 8×10 league photo and team equipment. Coach volunteers are needed. The league will begin Jan 30.

Big Island Sports Academy hosts holiday softball camp

The Big Island Sports Academy and the Hawaii Department of Parks and Recreation will host a holiday softball camp and clinic Dec. 10-11 at Old Airport Park. The event, which is open to girls ages 10-18, will feature UCLA head coach Kelly Inouye Perez, and UH-Hawaii head coach Callen Perreira.

Cost is $100 per person and the fee includes a free t-shirt, camp photo, instruction, daily lunch, and a player evaluation.

End of Year golf tournament at Kona Country Club

The Kona Country Club will host the End of Year golf tournament on Dec. 11. Entry fee is $120 with registration starting at 6:30 a.m. followed by a 7:30 a.m. shot gun start. Fee includes golf, cart, coffee, pastries and lunch.

The format is 2-person scramble with a max team handicap of 48.

Funds raised will help purchase gifts for the Salvation Army Angel Tree and for less fortunate families.

Jingle Bell Beach Run set at Coconut Grove

Hawaii Sport Events presents the 12th annual Jingle Bell Beach Run on Sunday, December 18th. The Christmas themed event will feature a 5K, 1-Mile, & Santa’s Keiki Dash at Coconut Grove Marketplace.

Start time is 7:30 a.m. with awards given to the top three in each category: Overall, 5-year age groups, and best Christmas costumes. Lots of raffle prizes to follow. Entry fee for the 5K is $30 until 11/30 and $35 until 12/16. Fees for the 1-Mile will remain $15 until 12/16. Santa’s Keiki Dash is free to children ages 6-and-under. No registration for the 5K and 1-Mile on race day.

Kohala boys basketball and t-ball/pitchball registration now open

The Kohala Community Athletic Association has opened free registration for boys basketball (ages 9-14) and t-ball/pitchball (boys and girls, ages 5-8). Registration will run through Dec. 19 at KCAA.online. Games will begin in January. For more information contact Tom at 345-0706.

For Kona From Kona Indoor Soccer Tournament slated for early January

There will be a For Kona From Kona Indoor Soccer Tournament Jan. 6-8 at the Old Airport hockey rink. Games will start at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6 and go all day Saturday and Sunday.
