Jimi Hendrix biographer Steven Roby will present a Jimi Hendrix Birthday Bash on Sunday at the Honokaa Peoples Theatre. The iconic guitarist would’ve turned 74 this November.

The Hendrix tribute will feature live music from Roger Winter (UH-Hilo Jazz Orchestra), a newly edited version of the movie, “Rainbow Bridge,” which features Hendrix’s 1970 concert on Maui, and an introduction and book signing by Roby for his book, “Hendrix On Hendrix: Interviews and Encounters with Jimi Hendrix.”

Live music will start at 1:30 pm.

“Hendrix on Hendrix,” released in 2012, assembles the most important Hendrix interviews in one volume. A respected Hendrix historian, Roby carefully selected interviews that offer insight into not only Hendrix, but the era from which he emerged as a cultural icon.

Tickets range in price from $4-$6.
