WAIKOLOA — Police are investigating two cases of vandalism at Waikoloa Elementary and Middle School reported in the past week.
Vandals reportedly damaged an administration office and kicked in a bathroom door on two separate occasions. The extent and cost of the damage isn’t known.
Hawaii Police Department spokeswoman Chris Loos said they received a report of “damage to the administration office” believed to have occurred at some point between the evening of Nov. 23 and the morning of Nov. 25.
The school was on Thanksgiving holiday from Nov. 24-25, according to a school calendar.
Then on Sunday at around 10 a.m. a bathroom door at the school was “kicked in,” Loos said.
She wasn’t able to provide more information about the case.
Because of the ongoing investigation, the Department of Education also said they could not provide information about the specifics of the vandalism, the cost or whether anything was reported missing.
Lindsay Chambers of the Department of Education’s communications and community affairs office said the school will be sending letters home with students about the incident.
She wasn’t, however, able to address the content of that letter.
