Kathleen Jaeger, who works in acrylics and mosaics, is Kailua Village Artists featured artist for December. She will be showing a collection of her latest works at the gallery through the end of the month.

While working in mosaic, Jaeger uses primarily stained glass as her tesserae as she creates both wall hung pieces and 3-D work. Other materials, such as beads, chain and mirror may occasionally work their way into the piece. While painting, she uses vibrant, colorful and playful images. This medium gives her the opportunity to work in a more spontaneous way than is possible with mosaic. Specific themes Jaeger will feature this month include: views of the world as she sees it; acrylic paintings on canvas and wood; and mosaic wall pieces, bottles and plates.

Jaeger holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Phillips University and a master’s in special education from the University of Kansas. She is also a qualified art therapist, registered with the American Art Therapy Association.

Meet Jaeger and learn more about her work on Dec. 13, 19 and 27 at the gallery located in the Kona Marketplace of Alii Drive in Kailua Village.
