Peaman events are great

I’ve been living in Kailua-Kona for three years and Peaman races helped my wife and me meet many awesome people with the same interests and thus get more integrated into society. I support the free gathering of people to exercise at their will and wouldn’t even call that a race.

Keep races going

As a life long participant in the Peaman events, it’s disheartening to see the organizers unduly burdened for what amounts to a gift to the community. These events are non-commercial, fun, and not at all about competition but rather the aloha spirit and being a focal point for a community here in Kona.

While I understand the need for the enforcement of laws, I hope that the DLNR can hold off on any action until our district, county, and state representatives can find an accommodation for this important gathering.

Peaman for always

We cannot allow the Peaman series of “races” to go away over bureaucratic or insurance issues. If someone needs to step in, why not the county or the state? Of the millions spent on recent county park facilities, which I applaud wholeheartedly, the cost to the county to ensure these things can continue would be minuscule.

That said, my first recommendation is live and let live. Encourage and support the folks like Peaman who make this community a better place.
