WAIMEA — On Nov. 19, Girl Scouts of Hawaii hosted its annual STEM Fest event in Waimea.

During the 2016 Fest, 52 Girl Scouts from across the island engaged in hands-on activities directed by female professionals with careers in science, technology, engineering and math. From conservationists to geologists, computer science engineers to astronomers, these prominent leaders in their fields encouraged scouts to explore STEM-related fields through hands-on learning.

The 2016 Big Island STEM Fest was made possible by the generous support of the Hawaii Community Foundation THINK Fund.

STEM Fest is a perfect example of how Girl Scouts of Hawaii continues to evolve in order to meet the growing interests of young girls.
