Cadets to place wreaths Saturday

The Civil Air Patrol Cadets of the Kona Composite Squadron will host a wreath-placing ceremony at the West Hawaii Veteran’s Cemetery from 7-9:30 a.m. on Saturday as part of Wreaths Across America.

The group has been conducting fundraisers to support the Wreaths Across America program, which states its mission as to remember, honor and teach about sacrifices made by veterans.

West Hawaii’s ceremony is timed to coincide with a similar event happening at Arlington National Cemetery. Community members are invited to attend.

This marks the sixth year the Kona Civil Air Patrol will participate in the program, and it expects to meet its goal of adorning with a wreath the graves of every veteran laid to rest in the cemetery, according to a release from the Kona Composite Squadron.
