Akana succeeds Hawaii Island Trustee Robert K. Lindsey Jr., who led the OHA Board of Trustees for the past two years.

“I am excited about my new role as the chair of the board of trustees,” Akana said. “I look forward to working with all of the trustees on behalf of our beneficiaries.”

Akana’s selection came during a reorganization meeting. Trustees also selected At-Large Trustee Leinaala Ahu Isa, as the vice chairwoman of the board and Maui Trustee Hulu Lindsey as the chairwoman of the board’s Committee on Resource Management.

Selections for the remaining board leadership positions will be made at a subsequent board meeting.
