Free Hunter Education manuals

The Department of Land and Natural Resources Hunter Education Program is offering free Hawaii Hunter Education Manuals to the public, while supplies last.

To request a copy, email hawaiihuntered@hawaii.gov. Include your name and complete mailing address. Limit two manuals per request.

The updated Today’s Hunter—Hawaii manual will replace the Hawaii Hunter Education Manual.

The basic 12-hour Hunter Education course covers the following topics: Outdoor ethics and responsibility, principles of conservation, wildlife management and identification, firearms familiarization and safety, muzzleloading safety, bowhunting safety, hunting rules and regulations, outdoor survival and first aid, and game care. The class is offered free.

Breithaupt-Castaneda completes basic training

U.S. Air Force Airman Staeci K. Breithaupt-Castaneda graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Breithaupt-Castaneda is the daughter of Marites Castaneda and Sonny Breithaupt and siblings Devin Breithaupt, Derwin Breithaupt, and Darrin Enos Jr., all of Naalehu. She is a 2016 graduate of Ka’u High School in Pahala.
