Men are truly role models

Love makes the world go round. I just want to acknowledge the men that were in Friday’s Dec. 23 edition about the Boys to Men Hawaii group. They teach us how to be men. I was so moved by these men making a difference in these young kids’ lives. They are absolutely 100 percent right we need to teach our boys how to be men.

With the world being in such a bad space with all the violence, this is living proof one man can make a difference. I have worked with these children around my church. They are polite, sweet and eager to learn. They stand for worship and sing beautifully.

I catch them giggling at me as I like to dance just a little.

God Bless you Alex Iglecia, Caleb Milliken, and James Resor. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I love a feel good story. Journey on young warriors!

DLNR citation disgraceful

I have graced the front page of this paper no less than five times in the past decade regarding my climbs of Mount Everest, Wounded Warrior work and building athletic field and holding summer camps in South Kona. I’ve risked my life climbing to raise monies to support a community.

I just say that to qualify my standing here in a rural community — grassroots stuff like Peaman, bent on helping human beings find some hope, purpose, fun.

I’ve done Peaman events since 1996, indeed they launched me into doing Ironmans on many continents.

Reading headlines about him being cited, etc., well for me, after being here 20 years, it spells the end of times.

I am so ashamed of this citing and anyone who would interfere with this brilliant altruistic man who has served tens of thousands of people. For free.

Compare that to the benefits derived from our island, being served by DLNR.
