Eleanor Gerard

Eleanor Eno Gerard, 79, of Hilo died Dec. 7, 2016, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Waipahu, Oahu, she was a domestic violence advocate for Turning Point for Families in Hilo and a member of Soka Gakkai International-USA.

Friends may call from 10–11 a.m. Jan. 5 at the Soka Gakkai International-USA Buddhist Temple in Hilo for an 11 a.m. memorial service. Aloha attire.

She is survived by hanai-daughters, Nahea Lopez, Kawehi Lopez, both of Hilo; sisters, Lucille (Alvaro) da Silva of Vallejo, Calif., Antonia Vetterli of Haleiwa, Oahu, Salinas Mabel (Darryl) Yim of Novato, Calif.; brother, Paul Noble (Jennifer) Gerard of Atlanta; numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley Gouveia

Shirley Ululanilanakila Gouveia, 70, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 19, 2016. She was born Nov. 17, 1946, in Kohala.

Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 7 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kailua-Kona with an 11 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Saints Family Cemetery, Captain Cook. Condolences may be posted at ballardfamilymortuaries.com.

She is survived by son, Thomas (Tamara) Gouveia of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Laurie (Stanley) Gomes of Kailua-Kona; Remie (Lars) Ige of Kailua-Kona; brother, Thomas (Theresa) Chesebro Jr. of Mililani, Oahu; sisters, Dolly (Paul) Antonio of Kohala; Joan (Brad) Ballesteros of Kailua-Kona; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Gordon Cullio

Gordon Paul Cullio, 77, of Mountain View died Dec. 23, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Olaa, he was retired from Volcano Golf &Country Club and a member of Mountain View Senior Golf Club.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts.

He is survived by wife, Grace Cullio of Mountain View; brothers, Herman (Judy) Cullio of Keaau, Roger (Barbara) Cullio of Mountain View, John (Bernie) Cullio of Waimea; sisters, Diane (Tomeki) Nishimura of Mountain View, Linda (Manuel) DeSilva of Kaumana; nieces and nephews.

Sakae Fuke

Sakae Fuke, 93, of Hilo died Dec. 10, 2016, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Mountain View, she was a retired office clerk for Meadow Gold Dairies and a member of the Hilo Meishoin Mission.

Private services held. Family requests no flowers and no monetary gifts.

She is survived by daughter, Cheryl Ann (William) Takaba of Hilo; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephew.
