Frank Vignola and Vinny Raniolo will offer a guitar workshop on Jan. 14 at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel in South Kohala. The workshop coincides with four shows the duo is playing on the Big Island.

The 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. workshop will be split into two sessions. From 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., Vignola and Raniolo will speak about the importance of good warm ups and improvisation, as well as rhythm guitar, including two styles of rhythm, Gypsy Django style and the swing “Freddie Green-style” of rhythm playing.

The workshop will then break for an hour lunch and return at 1:30 p.m. for a jam session as well as Vignola and Raniolo discussing and demonstrating riffs and expressions that gave Django his uniqueness.

Cost is $200 per person, and includes buffet, lunch and concert tickets. Reservations must be made in advance online at www.lazarbear.com.
