National Federation of the Blind meeting planned

The National Federation of the Blind West Hawaii Chapter will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Hale Halawai near the corner of Hualalai Road and Alii Drive.

Election of the 2017 board will be held prior to a group discussion called “Seeing the Holidays Differently.”

The group welcomes anyone who is coping with vision loss or caring for someone who is.

The group meets monthly to share information on tools and tips to deal with vision loss.

Kona Traffic Safety Committee meets

The Kona Traffic Safety Committee will meet from 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13.

Attendees can discuss traffic issues with public officials who can make a difference. Everyone is welcome. How do you like the new Napoopoo junction?

The committee meets the second Thursday of each month in the Mayors Conference Room, which is above the license bureau at the West Hawaii Civic Center.

Caregiver sharing group meets

Hawaii Community Caregiver Network is sponsoring a family caregiver sharing group from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 at Regency at Hualalai, 75-18 Hualalai Road.

The forum is for family caregivers to share their stories, seek information about community resources and find support among other caregivers. Topics for discussion may include tools for self care and tips for managing mood swings. The event is free, however, seating is limited. Reserve a space: Paulette Chang, 936-3191.

Hawaii Community Caregiver Network (www.hawaiicaregivers.org) is a nonprofit volunteer organization at promotes, enhances and supports caregivers through the sponsorship of educational and networking activities.

Kiwanis Club meets

Kiwanis Club of Kailua-Kona will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Makalei Golf Club, 72-3890 Hawaii Belt Road, 325-6625.

All visiting Kiwanis and prospective members are invited. The speaker will be Judy Donovan, regional director of marketing and strategic planning at Kona Community Hospital and Kohala Hospital.

Kiwanis looks to serve the community by conducting service projects that respond to identified needs, especially related to children.

Learn to create a will

Warren Chong, an independent associate with LegalShield, will explain how to create a will at a basic estate planning workshop. It will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Suite Possibilities, Suite 102, in the Chamber of Commerce Building south of McDonald’s.

Information and a will questionnaire will be provided to help participants complete this important document.

Course in miracles study group meets

A course in miracles study group meets from 10-11:15 a.m. every Thursday in the last pavilion on the far north end of Old Kona Airport Park.

The group is exploring forgiveness, gratitude and peace through understanding of course principles and sharing miracles and blessings.
