Barbara Tsubaki-Palacio

Barbara Jean Tsubaki-Palacio, 87, of Mountain View died Jan. 9, 2017, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Casa Grande, Arizona, she was a retired elementary school teacher at Keaukaha Elementary School and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Friends may call from 9–10 a.m. Jan. 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. a celebration of life. Casual attire.

She is survived by husband, Hal Palacio of Mountain View; daughters, Stephanie (Ivan Mochida) Lee of Hilo, Laura Tsubaki of Las Vegas, Paula (Derek) Vicente-Tsubaki of Keaau; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

David Perbix

David B. Perbix, 65, of Kohala Ranch died Jan. 3, 2017. Born in Minneapolis, he was a retired pilot for Kona Flight Services and Hawaiian Airlines.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

He is survived by husband, Andy Czajkowski; sister, Lucia (Marty) Thede; brother, Robert Perbix; numerous nieces and nephews.

Edward Godoy Jr.

Edward “Rodney” Godoy Jr., 51, of Hilo died Jan. 1, 2017, at Pohai Malama. Born Nov. 13, 1965, in Hilo, he was a handyman.

Private services. No flowers. Condolences may be posted at www.homelanimemorialpark.com.

He is survived by daughters, Shereen Godoy, Valentina Godoy, both of Hilo; stepson, Alan (Kiko) Dalao of Hilo; mother, Patricia Pabro of Hilo; brothers, Dean (Alakai) Godoy, Daryl Tamura, both of Hilo; sisters, Alicia Tamura of Las Vegas, Erica (Keone) Soares of Hilo; stepmother, Renee Godoy of Hilo; five grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Ellen Oshiro

Ellen Michiko Oshiro, 77, of Hilo died Dec. 15, 2016, at the Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Hilo, she was a kitchen helper with the Hilo Medical Center.

Private family services were held. The family requests that flowers and monetary donations be omitted.

She is survived by companion, Kiyoshi Nakagawa of Hilo; sons, Noland Oshiro, Dwayne (Sandra) Oshiro, Brian Oshiro, all of Hilo; daughter, Robin Iwahashi of Hilo; brothers, Masayuki (Thelma) Mitsuda of Hilo, Kenneth Yoneda of Calif. and Florence Yamada of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
