Ohrlando’s Chamber Ensemble performs

Ohrlando’s Chamber Ensemble featuring Roland Maurer and Ursula Hesse will perform from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday at Kailua-Kona Public Library.

The two Swiss musicians will offer a colorful bouquet of salon musique, waltzes, polkas and dances.

Sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona, the program is free.

Preschool story time planned at library

Children ages 2-5 and their adult caregivers are invited to join the children’s librarian at the Kailua-Kona Public Library for stories and learning activities that promote early literacy skills.

The story time will be held at 9:30 a.m. this Wednesday and the following Thursdays: Feb. 9, 16, March 2, 9, and 16.

Senior ID cards issued

The Coordinated Services of the Elderly Program of the Elderly Activities Division issues Senior ID cards for those age 60 or older Monday through Friday at the Aging &Disability Resource Center in Hilo.

Cards will be issued from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at Hale Hauoli Senior Center, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 7 at Kmart in Kailua-Kona, from 9-11 a.m. Feb. 13 at St. Jude’s Church in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates and from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 13 at the Kohala Coordinated Services of the Elderly. Cards will also be issued from 9-11 a.m. Feb. 14 at L. Yoshimatsu Senior Center in Waimea, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 14 at Walmart in Kailua-Kona, and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 22 at West Hawaii Civic Center, Building B.

Seniors meet Wednesday

The Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai.

The speaker will be Joy from the county, who will detail the volunteer program RSVP. A question and answer period will follow. After the program, a special event will be celebrated.

Kona Orchid Society meets

The Kona Orchid Society meets Friday at Makua Lani Christian Academy. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Gerrit Takasaki, who owns Hawaii Hybrids in Hilo, will speak about Cattleyas and the care and re-potting of them. Attendees may pre-order plants from his website that he will bring to the meeting.

A potluck will be served at 6:15 p.m. Attendees should bring a dish to share, as well as pest-free blooming orchids to display during the show and tell.

Free tax help offered

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide helps low to moderate income taxpayers have more discretionary income for everyday essentials, such as food and housing, by assisting with tax services and ensuring they receive applicable tax credits and deductions. AARP Tax-Aide is available free to taxpayers with low and moderate income, with special attention to those 50 and older.

Services will be available until April 12 at three West Hawaii locations. It will be available on a walk-in basis from 8 a.m. to noon Thursdays at Hale Halawai, 75-5600 Alii Drive. Help will also be available on a walk-in basis from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays at Yano Hall, 82-6156 Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook and from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Feb. 7 at Catholic Charities, 73-5618 Maiau St., Suite B201 in Kamuna Center.
