Terrence Pule

Terrence “Kake” Kelii Pule, 67, of North Kohala died Dec. 20, 2015, at his residence. Born Dec. 7, 1949, in North Kohala, he was a retired maintenance worker for Waikoloa Village Golf Course, a former assistant coach for Kohala High School Boys Basketball and Girls Softball teams, member of Local Boys Kohala Senior Softball, a former employee for Kohala Sugar Plantation and Memorex/Unisys Corporation in California. He was also an Army veteran.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 19 at Keokea Beach Park. Urn burial to follow at 3 p.m. at Old Mormon Cemetery in Niulii, North Kohala. Casual attire. No flowers. He is survived by wife, Bessie Pule of North Kohala; son, Troy (Jenni) Wells of Morgan Hill, Calif.; brother, Lyman Pule of Baltimore, Md.; sisters, Gwen Kupukaa of North Kohala, Roberta (Ben) Merkley of Salt Lake City, Utah; hanai sister, Jonell Bruno of North Kohala; a grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Kiyomi Okura

Kiyomi “Kay” Okura, 88, of Hilo died on Jan. 12, 2017, at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Laupahoehoe, she was a homemaker, member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and its Fujinkai, Hui Okinawa, Pomaika Senior Center and was a master Hosenryu dancer and instructor.

Private services held. Family requests no flowers and no monetary gifts.

She is survived by son, Bryan (Faye) Sugiyama of Hilo, Sandy (Diane H. Kimura-Sugiyama) Sugiyama of Waimea; brother, Ronald Yamaoka of Honolulu; sisters, Fumie Kaneshiro of Las Vegas, Sumiko Kim of Honolulu; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

George Mench

George Arpad Mench, 86, of Waikoloa died Jan. 30, 2017, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born Oct. 31, 1930, in Lodz, Poland, he was a retired business consultant and a former photojournalist.

He is survived by wife, Margrit Mench of Waikoloa; sons, Gunther Mench of Waimea, George Mench of Burlington, Vt., Charles Mench of Key West, Fla., Phil Hadviger of Japan, Andre Hadviger of Germany; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.

William Smith

William Edward Smith, 71, of Volcano died Nov. 23, 2016, at his residence. Born July 8, 1945, in Pittsburgh, he was a retired district court judge.

Private services held. No flowers. No monetary offerings.

He is survived by husband, Wade Park of Volcano; son, Walter (Toni) Smith of Baltimore, Md.; brothers, Gary Smith, Michael Smith, both of Honolulu; hanai mother, Mary Kastner of Torrington, Wyo.; hanai sister, Susan Smith of Torrington, Wyo.; one grandson.

Louise Wilson

Louise Blackman Wilson, 82, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 1, 2017, in Holualoa, Born March 29, 1934, in Oakland, Calif., she was an elementary school and adult ESL teacher.

She is survived by brother, Alfred (Cynthia) Wilson of Kailua-Kona.
