During the week of Jan. 30- Feb. 5, Hawaii Island police arrested 19 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Five of the drivers were involved in traffic accidents.
So far this year, there have been 134 DUI arrests compared with 97 during the same period last year, an increase of 38.1 percent.
There have been 138 major accidents so far this year compared with 138 during the same period last year.
