No injuries in Ocean View structure fire

A small, unpermitted structure in Ocean View burned to the ground early Monday evening, according to a report from the Hawaii County Fire Department.

HFD was notified at 6:45 p.m. Monday that a single-story unit on Tradewind at Ocean View Parkway had caught fire. The structure, described in the report as roughly 20-feet by 20-feet was completely engulfed by the time first responders arrived on the scene 11 minutes after the call.

Firefighters fought the flames for just over an hour before extinguishing the blaze a few minutes before 8 p.m.

The HFD report cited the structure as a total loss, noting there was no one was inside at the time. No deaths or injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
