Campbell completes basic training

U.S. Army Reserve Pvt. Tianna-Marie K. Campbell has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, and received instruction and practice in physical fitness, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet use, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, basic first aid, field tactics and the military justice system.

Campbell is the daughter of Ralnamarie M. Hondonero of Avondale, Ariz., and mother of Haven K. Afaga of Kailua-Kona. She is a 2011 graduate of Ka’u High School.

Senior ID cards issued

The Coordinated Services of the Elderly Program of the Elderly Activities Division issues Senior ID cards for those age 60 or older Monday through Friday at the Aging &Disability Resource Center in Hilo.

Cards will be issued from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at Hale Hauoli Senior Center, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 7 at the Kailua-Kona Walmart, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 13 at the Naalehu Community Center, from 10 a.m. to noon March 13 at the Kohala Coordinated Services of the Elderly, from 9-11 a.m. March 14 at L. Yoshimatsu Senior Center in Waimea, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m March 21 at Yano Hall and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 22 at West Hawaii Civic Center, Building B.

Seniors to learn about chair yoga

The Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai.

Andrea Hutchens will demonstrate chair yoga. She will explain the benefits of this exercise that most everyone can participate in.

Preschool Story Time planned

Children ages 2-5 years old and their adult caregivers are invited to join the children’s librarian at the Kailua-Kona Public Library for stories and learning activities that promote early literacy skills.

Story time begins at 9:30 a.m. Thursday and the following Thursdays: March 9 and 16.

Made in Hawaii Festival on Oahu seeks exhibitors

Vendors will have the opportunity to showcase their Hawaii-made products to more than 35,000 buyers and consumers Aug. 18-20 at the Made in Hawaii Festival at the Neal Blaisdell Arena and Exhibition Hall on Oahu.

Returning 2016 exhibitors have until Wednesday to complete their online application and payment. New exhibitors may sign up from Wednesday through March 31.

Products must have at least 51 percent of their wholesale value added by manufacture, assembly, fabrication or production within Hawaii. Standard 10-foot by 10-foot booth packages are $650, corner booths are $700. Shared booths are subject to a $215 surcharge per booth, and are limited to two exhibitors per booth.
