Harold Yamabe

Harold Hajime Yamabe, 103, of Honolulu died Jan. 13 2017, at Hale Ho Aloha Nursing Home. Born Jan. 3 1914, in Punaluu, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the 442 Regimental Combat Team Service Company, a car salesman for Honolulu Ford and the former owner of Hal’s Electric Supply.

Private services were held.

He is survived by sons, Rodney (Yuni) Yamabe of Honolulu, Randall (Verna) Yamabe of Captain Cook; sisters, Bernice Asano of California, Sue Takahama of Oahu; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucio Dela Cruz

Lucio Marcus Dela Cruz, 61, of Kurtistown died Jan. 28, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu.

Services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Tyra Dela Cruz; son, Tycio (Savanna Martinez) Dela Cruz; daughter, Kylie Corea; brothers, Eugene (Jade) Dela Cruz, Anthony (Edie) Dela Cruz and John (Carol) Dela Cruz; sisters Lillian (Freddie) Nobriga, Cheron Dela Cruz, Haunani Botelho and Vivian (Mario) Derego; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Shizue Hamamoto

Shizue “Dorothy” Hamamoto, 101, of Hilo died Jan. 9, 2017, at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Ookala, she was the former proprietor of Fashion House dress shop in Hilo, an original member of the Lehua Women’s Golf Club and a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

Private family services were held. No monetary donations.

She is survived by sister, Toyoko Tanaka of Hilo; hanai son, Earl (Donna) Tamiya of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews; two hanai grandchildren and five hanai great-grandchildren.
