Konawaena’s big inning featured a little bit of everything at the plate.
Walks, bunts, hits, errors, hit batters and then a big blast.
Vohn Yamaguchi homered to highlight a eight-run sixth inning Wednesday at Honokaa, and the Wildcats beat the Dragons 12-4 in a BIIF Division II baseball game.
Caden Perreira homered for the Dragons (1-3) and Canen Perreira struck out four batters in four innings, but for the second time a three games Honokaa was susceptible to a big rally.
On Saturday, Keaau scored six run in the seventh inning to win 9-8.
Trailing 4-2, the first eight batters reached base for the Wildcats (3-1).
After they loaded the bases on two walks and bunt single, Boaz Ayers brought in a run with a single, and an error on another bunt allowed two runs to score, giving Konawaena the lead. After a hit batter, Kolu Alani hit a two-run single and Yamaguchi cleared the bases with a three-run home run to centerfield.
Pitching in relief of Stevie Texeira – who struck out eight in 4 1/3 innings and allowed only one earned run – Andrew Udac pitched 2-2/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts to get the win.
Alani and Texeira hit doubles in the seventh to bring in an insurance run, and Boaz Ayers’ double helped Konawaena scored twice in the fifth to tie the game 2-2.
Like Alani and Ayers, Autsin Ewing and Yamaguchi each finished with two hits.
Honokaa took a short-lived lead in the its half of the fifth. Paki Akau doubled and scored on a ground ball, and Antonio Molina hit an RBI double. Caden Perreira also doubled.
Ocean Guerpo-Beamer took the loss.
Waiakea 18, Pahoa 0
Casey Yamauchi hit an inside-the-park three-run home run in his second at-bat of the first inning as the host Warriors improved to 3-0.
Waiakea scored 10 runs and then followed with eight in the second to end the game. Jamieson Hirayama pitched two innings, allowing two hits and striking out a batter.
David Martinez took the loss for the Daggers (0-2).

Ka’u 24, Pahoa 3
Analai Emmesley hit one of three home runs for the visiting Trojans (2-0), who beat the Daggers for the second time this season.
Kamalani Santos hit a two-run triple for Pahoa, while Kamalani Noll took the loss.
