Betty B.C. Matsumoto, 93, of Kalaoa died Feb. 13, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 10, 1924, in Canton, China, she was a homemaker.

Private services were held.

She is survived by husband, James Matsumoto of Kalaoa.

Jane McElgunn

Jane Evelyn McElgunn, 97, Hilo died Feb. 17, 2017, at her residence. Born in Brown County, Nebraska, she was a retired office clerk for the Los Angeles Unified School District in California.

A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.

She is survived by daughters, Marilyn K. Higbee of Hilo, Shirley Barra of Apple Valley, Calif., Frances Ericson of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; Carol (Michael) Brown of Apple Valley, Calif., Jane McGunn of Hilo; sister, Beryl Banker of Ankeny, Iowa; brothers, Eldan (Loretta) Crone of Fort Morgan, Colo., Laurel (Kay) Crone of Grand Junction, Colo.; 22 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Cheryl King

Cheryl A King, 68, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 30, 2016, at Kona Community Hospital. She was born in Chicago.

She is survived by husband, Lonnie King; son, S. Trevor King of Quincy, Ill.; daughter, Kerensa King of Ft. Collins, Colo.; brother, Ronald Potter of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Roy Haslip

Roy Odell Haslip, 91, of Waikoloa died Jan. 14, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 5, 1925, in Decorah, Iowa, he was a retired pharmaceutical company business owner, a Navy veteran, co-founder and member of Waikoloa Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. March 21 at Waikoloa Community Church with a 10:30 a.m. service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Waikoloa Lutheran Church building fund.

He is survived by stepson, Mark (Carol) Peterson of Bismarck, N.D.; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter.

Kayleb Horn

Kayleb Makalapua pukalao Waipio Horn, 18, of Waimea died Feb. 16 at ENMU. Born July 25, 1998, in Waimea, she was a student and former McDonald’s worker.

Visitation will be at 8:30 a.m. March 11 at Anunciation Catholic Church in Waimea with a 9:45 a.m. Mass. Lei and loose flowers welcome. Pink attire requested. Condolences may be posted at ballardfamilymortuaries.com.

She is survived by parents, Bernard and Courtney Horn; sisters, Baylie and Chandler Horn; grandparents, Warren Horn and Kathleen Aken of Waimea, Sandra and Clarence Baijo of Honolulu; aunts and uncles; numerous cousins.

Fredrick DeGraaf

Frederick Willim DeGraaf, 95, of Hilo, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at the Yukio Okutsu Veterans State Home in Hilo. He was born March 3, 1921, in Pasadena, Cailf. He was a Navy veteran.

A inurnment will be held March 10 at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.

Fely Andaya

Fely Damasco Andaya, 80, of Ewa Beach, Oahu and formerly of Papaaloa died Feb. 18 on Oahu. Born in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she was a childcare giver, homemaker and member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Papaaloa and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Ewa Beach.

Visitation will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. March 10 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; prayer service at 11. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire.

She is survived by daughter, Gayle (Greg) Aquino of Ewa Beach; step-daughters, Jacqueline (Dennis) Yagi of Colorado, Daveline (Lloyd) Ching of Waikoloa, Joann (Greg) Ramos of Kapolei; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Martin Cousino

Martin Joseph Cousino, 80, of Ocean View died March 1 at his residence.

Born in Ann Arbor, Mich., he was a retired handyman and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Eric Haanio

Eric Pomahina Haanio, 45, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 18, 2017, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Honolulu on Nov. 21, 1971, he was the son of the late Oliver and Shirley Haanio. He resided most of his life in mauka Keauhou. He enjoyed art, music and his family.

Private services will be held.

He is survived by his sisters, Lani, Vergie, Noreen, and Mary; brothers, Bo and Charles; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
