Food Addicts in Recovery meeting

Food Addicts in Recovery meets at 5 p.m. Monday at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 77-165 Lako St. An incorrect time was previously published because of information provided to the newspaper. Info: Betsy, 315-1893.

Soroptimists meet Monday

Soroptimist International of Kona will meet from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday in the West Hawaii Community Health Center conference room. Established in 1971, Soroptimist International of Kona is a service club working locally and globally to make a difference in the lives of women and children through programs and projects.

Nonmembers are welcome.

Defibrillator training in Old Industrial Area

West Hawaii Dance Theatre and Academy was recently awarded an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) by Hilo Medical Center Foundation as part of its Be a Lifesaver campaign partnership with Big Island Toyota.

West Hawaii Dance Theatre and Academy was one of 20 organizations across Hawaii Island that was awarded an AED, and it is the only organization from Kona’s Old Industrial Area.

The academy will receive a one-hour training on how to perform hands-only CPR and use the AED. The training will be at 2:30 p.m. March 25 at the academy, 74-5626 Alapa Street Bay 15.

Up to 80 participants may attend the free training. Interested persons, especially those who work or own businesses in the Old Industrial Area, are invited.

Hawaii State Ethics Commission applications sought

The Judicial Council has extended the deadline to apply for vacancies on the Hawaii State Ethics Commission and the Campaign Spending Commission. The new application deadline is March 31.

Interested persons should submit an application, a resume, and three letters of recommendation (attesting to the applicant’s character and integrity) to: Judicial Council, Hawaii Supreme Court, 417 S. King St., Second Floor, Honolulu, HI 96813-2902.
