West Hawaii students make college dean’s list

Kayla K Furtado of Waimea, Kristina Nicole Hamilton of Kailua- Kona and Shannon Alysha Hamilton of Kailua-Kona were named to the autumn dean’s list at Seattle Pacific University.

Students on the dean’s list have completed at least 12 credits and attained a 3.5 or higher grade point average.

Kealakehe High School community council meeting set

Parents, community members, students, faculty and staff are invited to a Kealakehe High School Waverider Hokupaa School Community Council meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Kealakehe High School Library.

The meeting will include a review of the bylaws and processes of the council as well as a review of the academic plan, the CNA process, and discussion of participating in a training on facilitative leadership and waivers or exemptions that may need to be processed prior to the 2017-18 school year.

At 6 p.m., an annual public hearing on the library floor will commence. Parents, students and community members are invited to share two-minute testimonies.

Seniors learn about Medicare ID

The Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai.

A guest speaker from the Attorney General’s office will address Medicare ID, theft protection, financial fraud and the proper disposal of medications. A question and answer session will follow.

Attendees should bring canned food.

Senior ID cards issue time changes

The Coordinated Services of the Elderly Program of the Elderly Activities Division has changed the time Senior ID cards will be issued at Yano Hall. The cards will be available there from 10 a.m. to noon March 21.
