Akira Fujimoto
Akira “Aki” Fujimoto, 89, of Honokaa died March 5, 2017, at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Waipunalei, he was a retired diesel mechanic with the former Hamakua Sugar Co. and a member of the Honokaa Hongwanji Mission, Hamakua Country Club, Hui Uruma Club, ILWU Union Local 142, former member of the Civil Service Commission, and a World War II Army veteran.
Friends may call from 4-5 p.m. March 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. March 22 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2, Hilo, for a graveside urn committal service. The family requests that casual attire be worn.
He is survived by son, Daryl (Loida) Fujimoto of Keaau; daughter, Bernadine Fujii of Hilo; five grandchildren, two great granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles Yogi
Charles “Chuck” Kosuke Yogi, 97, of Mountain View died March 13, 2017, at a Hilo care home. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired Store Manager from Times Supermarket in Kailua, Oahu and a member of Hui Okinawa, Big Island Sports Hall of Fame, Honolulu Track Club, USA Track and Field Masters, and Rotary International.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. March 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no monetary gifts or flowers.
He is survived by daughter, Charlene Yogi of Springfield, Ore.; sister, Florence Fugami of Renton, Wash.; brothers, Thomas (Pearl) Yogi of Renton, Wash., Akio Yogi of Mountain View; numerous nieces and nephews.

Sue Ota
Sue M. Ota, 89, of Hilo died Jan. 24, 2017, at a private care home in Hilo. Born Aug. 4, 1927, in Kainaliu, she was a retired Registered Nurse at Hilo Hospital.
Private services held. No flowers. No monetary offerings.
She is survived by daughter, Jackie Tokeshi of Hilo; sons, Robert (Maria) Ota of Maui, Winston (Sandie Talavera) Ota of Little Rock, Arkansas and Wesley Ota of Oahu; sister, Asako Shindo of Hilo; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces.

Isabelo Rances
Isabelo “Benny” Rances, 83, of Hilo died March 5, 2017, at home. Born June 18, 1933, in Alaminos, Pangasinan, Phillipines, he was in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as an executive chef for the Renton Golf and Country Club in Washington.
Private services will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.
He is survived by wife, Hiroko Abe Rances of Hilo; brother, Dominador (Julia) Rances of Hawaii; sisters, Erlinda Rances, Shirley (Rances) LaForge of Hawaii and Florida, (Anthony) Andaya of Philippines; numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
