Celebrating Ohana event planned
Neighborhood Place of Kona and Kona Commons present Celebrating Ohana, a free event for keiki and families. The event is from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Kona Commons.
Activities include arts and crafts, games, photos with the Easter Bunny and Ronald McDonald. Visit the free family-focused booths including Therapeutic Horsemanship Hawaii, Family Support Hawaii, NIU Hawaii and pediatric massage. At 11:30 a.m. the movie “The Great Gilly Hopkins” will be shown.

Auntie’s Angels seeks fresh produce and canned soup
Auntie’s Angels – Soup Kitchen ‘n’ Pantry will be held Saturday for tenants of Hualalai Elderly Housing.
The nonprofit needs help filling its shelves with canned goods and is in need of fresh fruit and vegetables to share with kupuna.

Island CPR hosts open house
Island CPR will host an open house from 1-6 p.m. Saturday at 73-5574 Maiau Street, Unit 4.
A blessing is planned at 1 p.m. and the open house will be from 1:30-6 p.m. Attendees may tour the new location, meet instructors and receive information on classes offered.
Free, one-hour noncertification classes will be offered at 2, 3:30 and 5 p.m. Participants will learn the basics of saving a life, and practice compressions. Reservations are not required.
There will also be a drawing.

Travel club meets at library
The Not Just a Book Club Travel Conversation Circle meets from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Kailua-Kona Public Library.
The group engages in friendly and spirited conversation about recent travel, planning ideas, favorite itineraries and destinations, new travel books and tools to enhance travel experience.

Women’s free clothes swap coming up
Women and teen girls are invited to a free clothing exchange from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Grace Community Church.
Spring clean your closets and bring a bag or two of new or gently used clothing, accessories, shoes, purses, etc. Distribute your things on the appropriate tables and hanging racks, then “shop” for free. Dressing rooms are available, or wear a bathing suit for quick try-ons. Come and go as your schedule permits.

Gala raises funds for Hawaii Island Humane Society
This spring, the auctioneer and his gavel will be busy raising funds for shelter animals at the Hawaii Island Humane Society’s 21st annual Tropical Paws gala.
The event is at 6 p.m. March 31 at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai and features a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner, live auction and dancing.
Tickets are $135 per person or $2,000 for a reserved table of 10. Tickets can be purchased at Hawaii Island Humane Society shelters or HIHS.org. Call 329-2135, ext. 3 for inquiries.
Event proceeds help offset costs of Hawaii Island Humane Society shelter operations around the island and assist in funding spay and neuter services and special needs for second chance animals.
