Ka’u Forest Reserve update slated April 4

The Naalehu Public Library will host The Nature Conservancy on April 4 for an update on their projects in Ka’u.

The presentation gets underway at 3 p.m. John Replogle, Field Coordinator, will be sharing a presentation about the The Nature Conservancy’s Ka’u Forest Reserve, the native plants found there, and the conservancy’s work there, including the group’s partnership with the Three Mountain Alliance.

Library hosts Aloha Teen Theatre program

The Kailua-Kona Public Library will host the Aloha Teen Theatre from 5:30 to 6:30 April 4.

Those ages 10 to 19 years old are invited to participate in “Play &Play,” an opportunity to see a play, and then play theater games with the cast. Engela Edwards, award-winning actor, playwright and director of Aloha Teen Theatre will be directing the play “Melting” by Eddie Zipperer as performed by members of Aloha Teen Theatre, a free program that teaches leadership through performance.

Sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona, this program is free to the public.

Keauhou-Kona Yacht Club lowers fees for new members

Keauhou-Kona Yacht Club is soliciting new members by temporarily lowering its initiation fee from $400 per person to $100 per person until the end of this year. For returning members, the cost is lower, If they have been gone for one year the initiation fee is 25 percent or $25, two years 50 percent or $50, three years 75 percent or $75. The annual dues are $310 and that amount will be prorated, for both new and returning members, depending upon when they join.
