James Luke

James M.O. Luke died Jan. 7, 2017 in Honolulu. Born May 8, 1938, in Kohala,“Jimmy” was a principal in the Luke’s family business.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. April 8 at the Kohala Hub (formerly Luke’s Place) in Hawi. Lunch will follow. Scattering of ashes will be done at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Nora Luke of Hawi; sister, Lois House of Kailua, Oahu; nieces and nephews.

Kathleen O’Malley

Kathleen “Casey” Elizabeth O’Malley, 76, of Waikoloa died March 23, 2017, at her residence. Born July 1, 1940, in Milwaukee, she was a retired land development manager for Stewart Title in Oregon, owner of the former Aloha Pet Sitting &Home Service and member of Waikoloa Community Church.

Private service held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to North Hawaii Hospice, 65-1328 Kawaihae Road, Kamuela, Hawaii 96743.

She is survived by daughter, Shannon (John) Friedman; sons, Thomas (Anita) Carter, Patrick Carter, all of Beaverton, Ore., Scott Carter of Waikoloa; brothers, John (Sherry) O’Malley of Independence, Ore., Curtis Jones of Portland, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren

Alfreda Jitchaku

Alfreda “Freda” Diama Jitchaku, 90, of Hilo died March 17, 2017, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born on June 20, 1926, in Papaikou, she was a homemaker and member of the Hilo Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. April 8 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, Hilo for a 10 a.m. memorial service. Casual attire and no flowers.

She is survived by sons, Walter (Colette) Alexander of Kihei, Maui, Byron (Joy) Jitchaku of Hilo and Aaron Jitchaku of Honolulu; brothers, Herbert (Hideko) Diama, Benjamin Diama, all of Hilo; sisters, Catherine Campainha, Carol Brown, all of Hilo; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cherine Magnani

Cherine Kau’i Magnani, 44, of Mountain View died March 7, 2017, at her home. Born in Kailua, Oahu, she was a member of Saint Theresa Catholic Church.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. April 8 at Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Mountain View for a 10 a.m. Mass. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by parents, Stephen and Maxine Magnani of Mountain View; sisters, Nadine (David) Chang of Kailua, Oahu, Justine Magnani of Chico, Calif.; brother, Stephen Magnani of Mountain View; grandmother, Dorynne Ringler of Kailua, Oahu; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kyle Onuma

Kyle Ken Onuma, 60, of Hilo died March 8, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired noxious weed specialist for the State Department of Agriculture and proprietor of K2O Lawn Maintenance.

Friends may call at 2:30 p.m. April 8 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 4 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by mother, Tsukiyo Onuma of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
