In Friday’s “Bringing Hokulea home” feature story, the date of an event was omitted. The community will gather at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Kahilu Town Hall to honor the Waimea canoe crew members who will sail Hokulea home from Tahiti on the last leg of her Malama Honua Voyage.

It is the policy of West Hawaii Today to correct promptly any incorrect or misleading information when it is brought to the attention of the newspaper.

Estate planning and life insurance workshop planned

Attorney John Roth and Insurance Specialist Rebecca Logan will present the basics of estate planning and life insurance on from 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday on April 27.

They will go over the basic documents such as a will, trust and power of attorney, and scenarios of different situations and values. The basics of life insurance will also be discussed.

Event supports education in Cambodia

A free dinner and Easter egg hunt is planned from 4-6 p.m. Friday at University of the Nations Preschool. Register for the egg hunt by 3:30 p.m. on site, or register at themagicschoolbus.eventbrite.com.

The Magic School Bus event also includes a silent auction and sales of raffle tickets. Donations from the event will provide education for children in Cambodia.

Blind support group to hear from man with Hubble lens in eye

An upcoming West Hawaii Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind meeting will feature a personal account of someone who has had a Hubble lens implanted into his eye. Come listen to his personal experience. The Hubble lens is manufactured by MIT with surgery done only in England, France, Germany and Italy.

The meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 14 at Hale Halawai.

Kona Traffic Safety Committee meets

Kona Traffic Safety Committee will meet from 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday to discuss traffic issues with public officials who can make a difference. Everyone is welcome.

The committee meets the second Thursday of each month in the Mayors Conference Room on the second floor of Building C at West Hawaii Community Center on Kealakekehe Parkway.

Cuaresma makes college dean’s list

Alexandria Cuaresma of Kailua Kona was named to the dean’s list at Eastern Oregon University for the winter term. Qualifying students achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the duration of the term.
