Egg Rush 2017 is on
The Hub Church Kona will hold Egg Rush 2017 on the Old Airport Soccer Field Saturday. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. with the first rush happening at 9. Ages birth to sixth-grade will be included. Bring the whole family.
Kona Toastmasters open house planned
Are you interested in improving your speaking and communication skills? Kona Toastmasters invites you to an open house from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The group meets at NELHA in the Hale Iako Building, 73-970 Makako Bay Drive, which is at the end of the road on the right. Light pupu will be served. Meetings are on the first and third Tuesday of each month and offer a range of speaking roles to suit all comfort levels. Manuals are $20 and dues are $12 per month. Toastmasters is a nonprofit, international organization with three chapters on Hawaii Island.

$81,000 raised for agriculture scholarships
Building on Rep. Clifton Tsuji’s legacy of giving back to the Hawaii Island community, 159 friends, supporters and family members raised $81,000 to fund endowed scholarships for Hawaii Community College and University of Hawaii at Hilo students pursuing degrees in agriculture.
The Representative Clift Tsuji Memorial Endowed Scholarship for Hawaii Community College Agricultural Program will support full-time undergraduate students pursuing a degree in agriculture.
The Representative Clift Tsuji Memorial Endowed Scholarship for University of Hawaii at Hilo College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resource Management will support full-time undergraduate students pursuing a degree in agriculture.

Nominations sought for Kealakehe Elementary School Community Council
Kealakehe Elementary School Community Council is accepting nominations for the community and parent components for the school years 2017-2019. Representatives are asked to serve for two years. The council’s primary roles are to review the school’s academic and financial plans to ensure students’ needs are met, provide opportunity for discussions on school improvement, participate in evaluation of the principal, and submit request for waivers. The council meets monthly in the conference room. Deadline for nominations is 4:30 p.m. on April 28. Nomination forms are available in the school office.
