Heart healthy food identified at ChoiceMART

Island Heart Care and ChoiceMART will launch an “Eat Well” partnership on Sunday. Through the use of Ornish friendly symbols, ChoiceMART customers will be able to easily identify heart healthy products that are plant based, low cholesterol and low fat.

The Eat Well partnership is based on the nutrition component of the Dean Ornish reversing heart disease program now offered as Ornish Lifestyle Medicine. Nutrition is one of four components scientifically proven to reverse and halt the progression of heart disease.

Approximately 150 Big Island participants have graduated the program, demonstrating reductions in blood pressure, blood cholesterol, glucose levels, weight and stress levels.
