The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Hawaii County through Sunday.

Winds from the south are expected to reach 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph through 6 p.m. Sunday. At the summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea, a wind warning is in effect through 6 a.m. Monday with 55 to 70 mph winds and gusts up to 80 mph forecast. The Mauna Kea Access Road was closed as of Saturday afternoon.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution and be aware of the possibility of downed tree limbs. Winds this strong can make driving high-profile vehicles difficult and dangerous.

Meanwhile, a flash flood advisory remains posted for the island through Sunday afternoon as a low passes near the island bringing the threat of flash flooding to most of the Hawaiian Islands. Maui County and Oahu were forecast to receive the most rainfall.
