Kona Orchid Society show and sale planned

The Kona Orchid Society will hold its annual Mother’s Day show and sale this week in the Old Kona Airport Makaeo Events Pavilion.

The show is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

There will be orchid vendors, arts and crafts vendors, fruit trees, succulents, pottery, art work, jewelry, and many other things available for your perusal.

There will be speakers on both days. Class schedules will be printed in newspaper advertising.

Admission is free.

Kupuna Singles will meet for dinner at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Canoe Club.

Mayor Harry Kim to address Kona Mauka Rotary

The Rotary Club of Kona Mauka will welcome Mayor Harry Kim at its lunch meeting Tuesday.

Guests are welcome. The club meets from noon to 1 p.m. each Tuesday at Teshima’s Restaurant.

Avallone makes college president’s list

David Avallone, a junior accounting major of Kailua-Kona, was among approximately 500 Bob Jones University students in South Carolina named to the spring 2017 president’s list.

The list recognizes students who earn a 3.75 or higher grade point average for the semester.
