KAILUA-KONA — Authorities are investigating a residential burglary where about $2,400 in property and money were stolen.

On or around May 2 in the area of Hookumu Street, the Hawaii Police Department reports, a person entered a home without permission by prying open the back door.

The individual then did a search of the residence and took numerous pieces of jewelry and about $285 before leaving, police say.

“Neighborhood checks and dusting for prints at the scene yielded no further leads or evidence,” police state.

Total value of the items taken is estimated at $2,405.
