Mary Cantorna

Mary Conchita Cantorna, 103, of Keaau died May 9, 2017, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born Oct. 4, 1913, in Honolulu, she was a retired Mauna Kea Beach Hotel employee and a volunteer at the Honokaa Senior Center.

Friends may call for visitation from 10-11 a.m. May 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel with an 11 a.m. service. Casual attire and no flowers. A graveside service will be at 1 pm. at Alae Cemetery.

She is survived by sons, Chuck (Ann) Obiacoro of Fairfield, Calif., Marty (Charlene) Obiacoro of Washington, Morris Cantorna of Calif., Manny Cantorna of Honolulu and Richard Cantorna of Austin, Texas; daughters, Jean (David) Lauro of Keaau, DeeDee Gabriel of Kent, Wash. and Gloria Camaro of San Diego; 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-great grandchildren.

Elujino V. Alvarez Jr.

Elujino V. Alvarez Jr., 70, of Hilo, died May 6, 2017. Elujino was born Oct. 14, 1946, in Honolulu.

Services will be held at Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo on May 17. Visitation at 5 p.m. and service at 6.

He is survived by sons Elujino Alvarez III and Abraham (Brittany) Alvarez Sr.; daughter Stacey (Alan) Alvarez; brothers Fernando Alvarez, Robin Alvarez Sr., William Alvarez, Anthony Alvarez, Alan (Barbara) Alvarez, Dean Alvarez, Wilbur (Jessica) Alvarez and Wayne (Annie) Alvarez ; sisters Mildred Alvarez, Irene (Bully) Flores, Caroline Alvarez, Vivian Alvarez, Patricia Alvarez, Deborah Alvarez, Verna Alvarez, Barcitla Ramirez, Darlene (Chico) Marrero, Joanna Dima and Renee (Rocky) Abadilla, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Valerie Atalig

Valerie Ann Perez Atalig, 35, of Mountain View, died April 23, 2017. Valerie was born on April 30,1981, at Guam Memorial Hospital. She worked in the food industry.

Services to be held from 1-3 p.m. on May 19, 2017, at Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo. Celebration of life to follow at Keaau Ball Park.

She is survived by her companion Andrew Tillstrom; mother, Jacqueline Perez; sons, Tevis (Cherelle Kahooilihala) Perez Atalig and Andrew Brent Tillstrom Jr.; daughter, Emma Renea Tillstrom; sisters, Leilani (James) Moniz, Analynn Perez-Atalig and Alohalani Perez-Atalig; numerous uncles,aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Troy Weeks

Troy Harrison Kuhio Weeks, 45, of Waikoloa died May 3, 2017, in Waikoloa. Born March 26, 1972, in Maui, he was a waiter.

Private services will be held. Condolences may be posted at ballardfamilymortuaries.com.

He is survived by wife, Jessica; children, Riggin, Caleb, Sage, Eva and Josaiya; parents, Ira and Roger Sanchez of Mountain View; brother, Jaymeson Sanchez of Vallejo, Calif.; sister, Summer (Reza) Azman of Wailuku, Maui; two grandchildren.

Matsue Nishiura

Matsue Nishiura, 95, of Hilo died on Saturday, April 8, 2017, in Hilo. She was born in Puna, on Dec. 25, 1921. She was a retired LPN at Hilo Hospital.

Services were held. No koden and no flowers.

She is survived by daughter, Lillian (Steve) Jackstadt; son, George (Susan) Nishiura; sisters, Clara Yanabu and Jane Sakanoi; 4 grandchildren.
