Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii has received a $1,500 grant from the Windermere Foundation. The check was presented during the Women Build day on May 6. The grant will go toward the Key Ohana home, one of six families to receive a new home in the Kamakoa Nui Affordable Workforce Housing project in Waikoloa Village.
Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii applied for a grant from the Windermere Foundation after five members of the staff from Windermere C and H Properties signed up to participate in Women Build. The grant comes from funds raised through the Windermere Foundation. Each time a home is purchased or sold using a Windermere agent, a portion of the commission goes into the fund.
The Windermere Foundation was started to help low-income and homeless families in the Western United States. To date, the organization has granted $33 million to hundreds of services and organizations that work to eliminate the housing crisis, most recently, Habitat West Hawaii.
