The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is sending $2.3 million in grants to Hawaii for health care and early childhood education, the majority of which will land on the Big Island.
The West Hawaii Community Health Center is set to receive almost $1.3 million to help fund its health center program, according to a release from the office of Sen. Brian Schatz. The center is a primary provider of health care to low income individuals and families up and down the West Hawaii coast.
Just more than $1 million will be used to bolster 13 different Head Start centers on the islands of Maui and Molokai.
