Moi season ends Thursday

A fish with a lot of “fingers” will be hands-off starting Thursday. The season for moi, or Pacific threadfin, will be closed from June through August in Hawaii waters.

Copies of Hawaii’s fishing regulations are available at DLNR’s Aquatic Resources offices, most fishing supply stores, and at http://dlnr.hawaii.gov/dar/fishing/fishing-regulations.

To report fishing violations, call 643-DLNR (3567).

June military training schedule announced

Military units are scheduled to conduct various types of training at Pohakuloa Training Area in June that may be heard or observed by the surrounding communities.

Here is a schedule of planned activities. Times and dates are subject to change.

June 2-30 Army — Mortar live fire training.

June 4-30 Army — Mortar live fire training.

June 5-23 Marines —Helicopter gunnery.

June 10-24 Hawaii Army National Guard — Artillery live-fire exercises.

June 9-30 Army — Artillery live-fire exercise.

June 19-30 Army — Mounted life-fire exercise.

The military in Hawaii appreciates the understanding and continued support of its local military training.
