Robert Kukua

Robert Lee Kukua, 78, of Holualoa died June 3, 2017, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 12, 1938, in Kealakekua, he served in the Air Force. He was a security officer, a bellman at the former Kona Village Resort, and a coffee farmer. He was a life member of the VFW, a volunteer firefighter, and a member of the Retired Enlisted Association.

A service with military honors will be held at 9 a.m. June 14 at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. A reception will follow at the VFW Post 12122 at 74-5543 Kaiwi St. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Judith Kukua of Holualoa; sons, Robert Kukua Jr., of Dahlongega, Georgia, Rod (Diana) Kukua of Huntsville, Texas, and Ryan Kukua of Holualoa; brother, Nalani (Terry) Kukua of Holualoa; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

George Pua Sr.

George Noelan Kuulei Pua Sr., 77, of Hilo died May 22, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for Jas. W. Glover Ltd. and owner of B &N Trucking.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. June 15 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may again call at 8 a.m. June 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua Section. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by companion, Eleanor Kepner of Mililani, Oahu; children, Geola (Derrick) Cardoza, George (Kimberly) Pua Jr., Kyle (Lisa) Pua, Gina (Mark) Gomes, all of Hilo, Lopaka (Heather) Pua of Hawaiian Shores; 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary Alfiler

Mary “Pancake Lady” Ynigues Alfiler, 92, of Paauilo died May 23, 2017, at home. Born in Honokaa, she was a retired pantry worker for the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. She was also a member of St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Paauilo, the Paauilo Senior Citizens, the Paauilo Nutrition Group and the Paauilo I.L.W.U. Pension Club.

Visitation will be held from 8-10 a.m. June 16 at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church, Paauilo with a 10 a.m. Mass. A graveside committal service will be held at 10 a.m. June 17 at St. Columba Episcopal Cemetery, Paauilo. Casual attire.

She is survived by sons, Mariano (Joyce) Alfiler of Papaaloa and Harold (Carmen) Alfiler of Ahualoa; daughters, Eleanor Gonsalves of Hilo, Victoria (Richard) Jonet of Washington and Bessie Alfiler of Paauilo; brother, Tommy Ynigues of Oahu; sisters, Lucy Meyer of Hilo and Beatrice (Edwin) Narte of California; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sheldon Navor

Sheldon W. Navor, 40, of Hilo died May 15, 2017, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a construction laborer and a member of the Hawaii Laborer’s Union, Local 368.

Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. June 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service, followed by cremation. Friends may also call from 1-4 p.m. June 17 at the Hilo breakwall for a memorial gathering. The family requests that casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Taeia Costa of Honolulu; companion, Mechelle Kaipo of Hilo; sons, Stylar (Mathew) Kaipo-Navor, Slyder (Courtney) Kaipo-Navor, Shawnen Kaipo-Navor, Sagejen Kaipo-Navor, all of Hilo; daughters, Saffire Kaipo-Navor of Hilo, Shantasia Kaipo-Navor of Hilo; stepdaughter, Brittnie (Justin) Drane of Honolulu; parents, Vicente and Margaret Navor of Hilo; brothers, Vicente (Kealani) Navor of Waimea, Eugene (Michelle) Navor of Hilo; sisters, Jadine Navor, Zenia (Zack) Aguiar, Pamela Navor-Hughes, all of Hilo; 36 hanai children, three stepgrandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gladys Liborio

Gladys K. Liborio, 84, of Las Vegas died Feb. 23, 2017. She was born July 6, 1932, in South Kona.

She is survived by sons, John Spencer, Lionel (Frances) Liborio Jr., Nelson (Marjorie) Liborio and Brian (Rhonda) Liborio; brother, Curtis (Margaret) Spencer; hanai bother, Elmo (Sylvia) Lincoln; sister, Ruby Isaacs; hanai sisters, Lavender Meno and Nancietta Haalilio, 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.

Jadelyn Ramos

Jadelyn “Ga” Hoonanea Ramos, 67, of Waimea died June 2, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital. Born March 27, 1950, in Laupahoehoe, she was a homemaker, caregiver and member of Mauka Mamas.

She is survived by mother, Ethel Andrade of Waimea; daughters, Kristina (Chuck) Erskine of Waiakea, Katharine (Brent) Foster of Oceanside, Calif., Kara (Bronson Sylva) Ramos of Waimea; eight grandchildren.
