Kealakekua Public Library summer programs planned
Special programs are being offered for the summer reading program at Kealakekua Public Library, 81-6619 Mamalahoa Highway.
LEGO days for those 10 and older will be at 1 p.m. Thursdays, June 22, 29 and July 6, 13.
Puzzle days for all ages are planned at 10 a.m. Mondays, June 19, 26 and July 3, 10.
A rat lungworm disease prevention is planned for adults from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Children 5 years old and older are invited with an adult to make a library book box from 3-4 p.m. Friday.
Jeff Peterson will give a slack hey guitar performance for adults from 5:30-6:30 p.m. June 28.
Children ages 6 and older may make a yarn God’s Eye from 3-4 p.m. June 30.
Teens and adults are invited to papercut a hummingbird mandala from 5:30-6:30 p.m. July 5.
Kids for science for those age 3-7 is planned from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by yoga for kids from noon to 1 p.m. July 7.
Children age 7 and older may make a moving fish papercraft from 5:30-6:30 p.m. July 12.
Programs are free to the public and young children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Gov. Ige speaks at chamber meeting
The public is invited to join the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce as it inducts its board members for 2017-18 at the annual membership and installation luncheon June 30.
The luncheon will celebrate and honor the chamber’s Pualu Award winners and 2017 Small Business Administration winners at the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. This year’s keynote speaker is Gov. David Ige.
The two-hour event will close out the chamber’s fiscal year, recapping chamber accomplishments and goals for the upcoming year.
A business expo will feature members’ products and services from 10 a.m.–11:30 a.m. and from 1:30–2 p.m. at the Hualalai foyer. The Expo will close during the luncheon and is also open to the public.
Admission is $70, or $60 for chamber members. Tables of eight can be reserved. Reservations are required by Friday.

Aha Moku Island Council meets
The Aha Moku Island Council meets at 10 a.m. Saturday at the West Hawaii Civic Center.
The council consists of the six traditional moku (county districts) of Hawaii Island. The purpose is to preserve, protect and restore Hawaiian culture, history, and traditional practices. The council invites anyone interested in forwarding these goals and sharing ideas.
Auntie’s Angels seeks food donations for low-income seniors
Auntie’s Angels will hold its monthly Soup Kitchen ‘n’ Pantry Saturday for the low-income tenants at Hualalai Elderly Housing.
