KAILUA-KONA — National Hurricane Center forecasters are keeping tabs on an area of disturbed weather in the Eastern Pacific.
The Miami-based forecasters said Wednesday that the broad area of low pressure is expected to develop this weekend as it tracks west, west-northwest parallel to the coast of Mexico. It’s got just a 10 percent chance of developing into a tropical cyclone by Friday afternoon.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the system was located several hundred miles off the Gulf of Tehuantepec.
Meanwhile, no tropical cyclone formation is forecast through Friday afternoon in the Central Pacific, which is where Hawaii is located, forecasters with the Central Pacific Hurricane Center in Honolulu said Wednesday.
