Kenneth Madrona Sr.

Kenneth Largo Madrona Sr., 73, of Zanesville, Ohio, died June 9, 2017, at the Ohio State University Ross Hospital. Born in Hilo, he was retired from the U.S. Army Reserve and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. June 28 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hilo Stake Center for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may call for a graveside urn committal service at noon June 30 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. The family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by children, Shawn Calica, Sharyl (Ben) Madrona, Shannon (Chad) Gill, Kenneth Madrona Jr., Kristi (David) Madrona, Corie (Neilsen) Kia, Conrad (Lindsay) Madrona; brothers, Alfred Madrona, Bernard (Fern) Madrona; sisters, Catherine (Angel) Salgado, Irene (Leo) Roberts, Marsha (Frank) Pineda; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Leroy Alip Sr.

Leroy Isaiah Alip Sr., 77, of Kona died May 31, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kukuihaele, he was a retired Department of Parks and Recreation complex manager for the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium, a landscaper for Deseret Mutual Salt Lake City Co. in Hawaii, former bishop of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kilauea 2nd Ward, former member of the temple presidency and ordinance worker at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kona Hawaii Temple and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kona 1st Ward.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. July 1 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Honokaa for an 11 a.m. service. Burial follows at the Honokaa County Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by sons, Leroy (Kaylene) Alip Jr. of Honokaa, Robert Alip and Dwayne Alip of Kona; daughter, Carrie (Sam) Pung of Honokaa; brothers, Jeremiah (Clara) Alip of Sandy, Utah, Donald (Lorna) Sagario of Honolulu, Bonifacio (Margaret) Alip of Anaheim, Calif., Ted (Joan) Alip of Honokaa, Isaac Sagario of Honolulu, Amor (Nancy) Alip, Ullysses Felarca, and Arthur Felarca of Anchorage, Alaska; sisters, Adele (Howard) Loo of Waimea, Norma Jean Sagario (Harold) Brown of Kapaa, Kauai, Betsy (Jon) Simon of Kansas, Toni Felarca of California, Angie Felarca of Texas; stepmother, Rebecca Alip of Anchorage, Alaska; 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
