Daifukuji plans bon dance

A bon dance featuring Japanese folk dancing and taiko drumming will be held at Daifukuji Buddhist Temple on Saturday.

It will begin with an opening ceremony at 6:30 p.m., followed by dancing until 10 p.m. Admission is free. Bon dance towels will be available for a donation. The snack shop and gift shop will be open.

Daifukuji Buddhist Temple is next to Teshima’s Restaurant in Honalo.

Caregiver sharing group planned

Hawaii Community Caregiver Network is sponsoring a family caregiver sharing group from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at Regency at Hualalai, 75-18 Hualalai Road, Kailua-Kona.

The group will provide a forum for family caregivers to share their stories, seek information about resources and find support among other caregivers. There will be a discussion on not allowing the daily tasks of caregiving to replace a meaningful loving relationship with the care receiver. There is no charge, however, seating is limited.

Yoga class offered for kids

Yoga Fun for Kids, a one-hour class, will be offered on Saturdays, July 8, 15, 22 and 29 at Society for Kona’s Education &Art in Honaunau.

The class helps children build concentration, develop body awareness and manage stress through the practice of yoga. Children will learn and practice various elements of yoga such as breathing techniques, yoga postures and flows and meditation. Fun games and creative esxpression through drawing and writing will also be integrated into the lessons.

Cost for the four-class series is $55. Register by June 30 for a $10 discount.

Eucalyptus tree talk coming up

Kelly Dunn, CEO of Painted Trees of Hawaii Foundation, will give free lectures on the eucalyptus deglupta trees of Hawaii on Saturday.

The talks are at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. in the mayor’s office at West Hawaii Civic Center. Art prints will be on display from 2-7 p.m.
